Lifeform Type: Humanoid

We started in the neo-Victorian era, a capitalist boom in the Sol system. Our first leader used a spindizzy he found in an ancient Martian pyramid to move moons to terraform that planet. We escaped Sol system after the system wars in the 23rd century (CE). We adapted to deep space life, working for many client races in asteroid habitats. The perfected spindizzy technology was eventually able to move terrestrial type planets.

As our methods were matured we grew by franchise. Groups of rugged individualists in a thousand small ships and rock bases signed articles with us to take our technology and logo in exchange for loyalty to our ways. By existing always one step ahead of ground bound Federation settlers and too-clever University artificers we realised the assets of deep space. Now we are too dispersed to be federated and too hardy to kill off.

We disdain planet bound civilisations. We will resist any attempts to incorporate us into empires or pay foreign taxes. Our natural enemies are the environmentalist Arborians and the Privateers, who do not respect contracts and merely pick the pockets of the slow moving races.

We are not primarily a fighting race - indeed arguably not a race but rather a mixed collection of freethinking capitalists.  Our ships are based on big freighters with superbly wasteful amounts of metal, guzzling cheap fuel and leaking atmosphere and lubricants. They are relatively light on weaponry but big on armour. Keep your distance and we will keep ours. Our philosophy is that freighters need some protection to survive pirates but hopefully can survive the cowardly assaults and deliver cargo safely by sheer momentum.

IMT offers an alternative flavour to VGAP4. It can be used as a fighting race for the usual slugfests but can also be played as a ruthless, morally bankrupt corporation more interested in money and resources than straightforward territorial domination.
